MONDAY 19/01

ST MAXIMIN:

A little way off in the future, but giving you time to have a think about it – there’s going to be an outdoor and indoor drawing day in and around the St Maximin chateau.

An art teacher will be on hand to give advice or critiques throughout the day.

So included in the cost is the Chateau visit, the drawing and cost of the teacher as well as a lunch of local produce.

It’ll be taking place on 08 MARCH, it’ll cost 110€ and you can get more information and or sign up with the art shope, “l’Echoppe des artistes d’Uzès” or simply give them a call to book your place

VALLIGUIÈRES :

Evelyne Lloret is an artist whose produced some interesting watercolours from her journies to Africa.

The exhibition is open at the bibliotheque until 28 February, on Mondays, Wednesday and Saturdays.

UZÈS:

There’s an on demand bus service organised by the CCPU to facilitate travel within the local area. You’ll need to call to make a booking and there’s a website where you can check out the regular stops and timetable.

There’s a local club, which is part of a national organisation called “Accueil de Villes Françaises” or AVF for short.

The overall mission is to welcome newcomers to the town, whether French or other nationalities, by organising events and activities run by volunteers, so that you get to meet other residents and start your social life.

Not only are there activities on offer, but also French conversation classes from beginner through to more advanced which might be of interest to some of you newly arrived.

On Saturday 31 January the local AVF are inviting all newly arrived (or within the last 3 years) to come along to the Salon Racine in the Mairie from 4 30pm and meet some of the current members,have a general chat and check out what’s on offer with representatives from the different activities, such as a singing group, art group, mosaics etc and there’ll be a welcome drink and nibbles to keep you going.

It’s totally free, so if you’re new to the area, looking to establish your social circles and enjoy an active life, do come along – you’re sure of a warm welcome.

When we arrived in Uzes in 2018, membership of this really friendly club kick started our whole social whirl.

THURSDAY 22 Jan

CASTILLON DU GARD:

Gwen Crouzet is a practician of naturopathy as well as being a professional masseuse.

She’s going to be running a special workshop this coming Sunday 25 Jan on how to create your own massage candle using only natural plant based ingredients.

The session will take place between 2 30 and 4pm and will cost 20€.

Time to walk off the previous festive season’s good food and drink, including the Galette and of course the truffles which were so in evidence across the Truffle weekend.

To help you along the way the walking club called “Natura Sports et Loisirs” will be holding their 18th annual walk on February 1st.

There’ll be several distances on offer, 10, 14 and 18km. So if you’d like to take part you can sign up on the day from 08h30.

It’ll cost you 12€ to take part which includes a hot drink and pastry, drinks along the way, a shared glass of something, possibly a coffee it gets cold and fruit juice.

It’s free for the under 8’s.

More sporting activity this coming weekend on Sunday 25 January, it’s the 13th iteration of the VT’Truffes organised by the Uzès cycling club.

I understand that there are different cross country rides on offer, but no matter which level of difficulty or ease you chose, there’ll be a truffle soup and bottle of wine to greet you at the end.

It costs 12€ to take part in the competition, but if you want the truffle meal at the end, that’ll cost you 20€ instead.

Coming up on Sunday 01 February is another concert organised by the Nuits Musicales d’Uzes at the Ombriere theatre.

On the programmethis time there’s a Franz Liszt piano concert, another concerto by Marie Jaëll and Franz Schubert’s unfinished Symphony.

The pianist will be Célia Onato Bensaïd under the direction of Déborah Walkman from the l’orchestre national Avignon Provence

The concert starts at 5pm. Places cost between 25 à 40
